Access control systems must be provided to enable a secure working environment for teams, property and assets.
Protecting people and providing the right people, equipment and environment is fundamental to our business. We must ensure that only authorised individuals access our sites to maintain a safe working environment for all. A robust access control system enables us to protect and account for everyone in the event of an emergency. Refer to emergency provisions (first aid, fire and environmental) section.

The site establishment team must:
- Identify a digital system suitable for the size, duration and phase of the project and ensure it is implemented on day 1 of occupying the site. A paper-based system may be required for the initial period until the necessary infrastructure is in place for the suitable digital system.
- Ensure the following data is captured in the access control system:
- Date.
- Name.
- Employer.
- Profession / job role.
- Contact number.
- Means of travel.
- Distance travelled.
- Vehicle registration.
- Arrival time.
- Departure time.
- Ensure the digital system selected is compliant with the Morgan Sindall Group IT Policies.
- Ensure there is a backup system or mechanism to access the data in the event of a loss of power or unable to access the hardware to retrieve the data.
- Consider how the digital system can restrict and monitor access to areas where sensitive data is held.
